Return to Piney Island

Funny to think that less than two weeks ago I was walking around in a t-shirt where I was now skiing.

This time however, I remembered to bring a camera so I can share a bit.

Barn Island - aka Piney Island

Yesterday I walked around Barn Island alone. S. is away - hence the pinning. But... in the last eight years I've walked all over that place at all times of the year. I've kayaked it spring through fall, and walked it fall through spring (too darn many ticks in the summer). I've seen the Burdick graveyard, the Wiccan Oak, the rock moved by Venture Smith, and the sweet gum trees in their fall blaze but I've yet to see a Barn and I even in the highest of tides I doubt very much that it is an Island.

Summer in Mystic

Suddenly, summer is here. You can tell by the traffic which backed up to the house today. You can also tell, more importantly, from the weather. Yeah!!!!!

After a long bike ride and the beginning of what could become a bad habit (I rode down to the Noank Village Bakeshop and had a lovely, warm, gooey cinnamon bun), I weeded the garden, did some transplanting and general housecleaning.

Amy is well on the road to recovery. Guess I'm starting down that road too.
